poultry manufacturing (animal protein source)
Italy - Emilia Romagna
Activities will focus on the hydrolysis of proteins starting from 2 different feedstocks: food processing residues (FPR) from animal protein source (poultry manufacturing) and food processing residues from vegetal protein source (soybean processing). The production of protein hydrolysates, to be used directly as soil improvers, will be approached by using different proteases. The products will be characterized for their nitrogen content and amino acids composition and selected for further application as soil improvers.
Food processing residues:
soybean processing (vegetal protein source)
Processes:
4.1.4. Development and optimization of protein hydrolysates
Key Exploitable Results (KER):
KER3: Protein hydrolysis for obtaining hydrolysates acting as soil improver
Partners:
4 Waste4Soil partners are directly involved in the Living-Lab situated in Emilia Romagna: UNIPR, GESCO (AMADORI), LCOOP, and CONFAGRI. The Unione Industriali di Parma will provide its facilities to organize the Living-Lab. The cooperative Fruttagel, linked to LCOOP, will also be involved as it will provide food processing residues and be part of the co-creation process of the Living-Lab.
Tomato processors and tomato farmers of the province of Parma will be invited and stimulated by the new opportunity of testing a soil solid improver.
