International Day of Zero Waste 2025

Every year, households, small businesses, and public service providers generate between 2.1 and 2.3 billion tons of municipal solid waste—including packaging, electronics, plastics, and food. Yet, global waste management systems are struggling to keep up. Alarmingly, 2.7 billion people lack access to proper waste collection, and only 61-62% of municipal waste is managed in controlled facilities. Urgent action is needed to address this growing crisis.

This year’s International Day of Zero Waste (March 30) focuses on a critical issue: waste reduction in the fashion and textile industry. With the theme “Towards Zero Waste in Fashion and Textiles”, the campaign highlights the urgent need for sustainable and circular solutions.

The Solution: Circularity & Zero-Waste Approaches

To address this crisis, we must embrace systemic change through sustainable production and consumption. A zero-waste approach—focusing on waste reduction, reuse, and recycling—is key to transforming the industry and protecting natural resources.

At Waste4Soil, we recognize the deep connection between waste management, soil health, and sustainability. By promoting circular solutions and responsible waste management, we can safeguard our environment and build a more sustainable future.
