Waste4Soil Workshop at AGROTICA 2026

The Waste4Soil Project was presented during a dedicated workshop held on Thursday, 12 March 2026, at the 31 AGROTICA International Trade Fair , organised by the project Coordinator, CERTH / ARTEMIS Laboratory, and CluBE.

The 5th workshop focused on sharing Waste4Soil results, with particular emphasis on soil health and innovative solutions for the sustainable management of waste and resources within the agri-food sector.

Engaging stakeholders across sectors

The event brought together key stakeholders from the research community, local authorities, and the agri-food sector, fostering a dynamic environment for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and discussion on current challenges and opportunities in sustainable soil management.

Showcasing Living Labs and project results

During the session, the Living Labs of Western Macedonia and the Waste4Soil project were presented, highlighting their contribution to soil restoration, urban resilience, and the valorisation of food waste into valuable soil improvers.

The workshop also showcased innovative approaches and technologies in key areas, including:

  • Utilisation of food industry residues
  • Circular economy applications in the agri-food sector
  • Sustainable waste management and biodiversity enhancement

Strengthening the science–practice link

The active participation of attendees and the engaging discussions that followed reinforced the importance of strengthening the link between research, innovation, and real-world application. Such exchanges are essential to advancing soil health protection and supporting the transition towards more sustainable and circular agricultural systems.

The Waste4Soil consortium continues to promote collaborative approaches that transform organic waste streams into valuable resources, contributing to healthier soils and more resilient rural and urban environments across Europe.
