From 5 to 7 May 2025, the Università degli Studi di Parma, a key partner in the Waste4Soil project, participated in the final conference of FULLRECO4US – International Sustainable Resource Recovery Strategies Towards Zero Waste, held in Basel, Switzerland.
During the event, Francesca Accardo presented the scientific work named: “Enzymatic hydrolysis of proteins as a valorisation pathway for sustainable agriculture: from food processing residues to new soil improvers”
The scientific activities were made possible through the collaboration of the University of Parma, GESCO, and the Azienda Agraria Sperimentale Stuard.
This research highlights the valuable work being carried out by the Living Lab Emilia-Romagna as part of the Waste4Soil project. The focus is on exploring innovative bio-based solutions to recover nutrients from agri-food residues and enhance soil health, contributing to more sustainable and circular agricultural practices.
The FULLRECO4US conference, organized within the framework of COST Action 20133, brought together researchers and practitioners from across Europe to discuss cutting-edge strategies in resource recovery and zero waste approaches. Key topics included:
- Nutrient recovery
- Biorefinery and bioenergy
- Valorisation of solid and agri-food waste
- Biochar and bio-fertilisers
- Circular economy and sustainable waste management
