The European Congress on Biotechnology in Rotterdam, Netherlands, which was held from 30 June to 3 July 2024. Our partner the University of Parma presented the Waste4Soil project and part of the work carried out to date by the Living Lab Emilia-Romagna.
F. Accardo presented the poster named "Conversion of food processing residues into sustainable soil improvers by using enzymatic hydrolysis".
The scientific and experimental activities carried out by the University of Parma, with the help of Amadori/Gesco, were shown. Thus, the valorization route concerning the use of enzymatic hydrolysis for the production of different protein hydrolysates from Food Processing Residues which are directly used as soil improvers.
The over-arching theme for the 2024 Congress was:
- Health;
- Food Security; and
- Global Warming.
Meeting these challenges will require close cooperation between Industry, Academia, Research Institutes, and national governments. The scientific programme will therefore focus on how to translate front-line research into commercially viable applications.
