On 28 May 2026, Waste4Soil partner KOTO participated in the BIOMAPE project meeting held in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
The event provided an important opportunity to exchange knowledge and showcase innovative solutions in the biogas sector, including developed solutions within the Slovenian Living Lab under the Waste4Soil project. The Living Lab presented its work to KOTO visitors, highlighting innovative approaches to valorising digestate and contributing to improved soil health and fertility.
The programme also included a dedicated stakeholder event on biogas and biomethane, hosted by the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce. The session brought together experts and key stakeholders from across the sector to discuss current opportunities, challenges, and future developments in the biogas value chain.
In the afternoon, participants visited the KOTO biogas plant, where they were able to gain first-hand insights into the practical application of circular bioeconomy solutions and observe how organic residues are transformed into renewable energy and valuable resources.
This meeting demonstrated the importance of cross-project collaboration and Living Lab approaches in accelerating innovation, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and supporting the transition towards more sustainable soil and waste management practices across Europe.
By connecting research, practice, and industry, initiatives such as BIOMAPE and Waste4Soil continue to foster knowledge exchange and contribute to the development of resilient circular bioeconomy systems.
