Waste4Soil at EU-ISMET 2026

Our partner IRTA participated in the European Meeting of the International Society for Microbial Electrochemistry and Technology (EU-ISMET 2026), held from 8–10 July 2026 in Toulouse, France.

During the event, Miriam Cerrillo from IRTA presented the latest results from the operation of a pilot-scale microbial electrolysis cell system coupled with hydrophobic membranes for ammonia recovery from agri-food digestates.

The presentation highlighted the potential of innovative bioelectrochemical technologies to support more sustainable nutrient recovery solutions, contributing to the development of circular approaches for agri-food waste management. These results are aligned with the objectives of Waste4Soil, which aims to promote sustainable practices for transforming agri-food residues into valuable resources and improving soil health.

EU-ISMET 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and discuss emerging solutions with the international bioelectrochemical systems community.
