On 19 February 2026, our partner LAB University of Applied Sciences hosted the first of two events in the framework of the Waste4Soil project at the LAB campus in Lahti. The event, titled “Waste4Soil Project and the Development of Soil Improvers”, brought together researchers, farmers, and local stakeholders to discuss sustainable soil management and the circular use of agricultural by-products.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to explore:
- Field Trials 2024–2025 and their results
- Field-to-Field Cycle and collaboration with local farmers
- Opinion surveys conducted with end users and their outcomes
- Comments and insights from Antti Mäkelä (Yli-Mäkelä Farm) and Juha Aalto (City of Orimattila)
- A tour of the LAB laboratories to see ongoing research and experiments
This event was an excellent example of how the Waste4Soil project connects research with practical applications, fostering collaboration between science and local farming communities.
