Waste4Soil Educational Visit: Inspiring Students Through Real-World Bio-Waste Solutions

On 22 May 2026, Waste4Soil partner KOTO welcomed students from the Secondary School of Gastronomy and Tourism in Ljubljana, Slovenia, for an educational visit focused on sustainable waste management and circular bioeconomy solutions.

During the visit, students were introduced to key activities related to bio-waste and food waste treatment, as well as the operation of the KOTO biogas plant. The session also highlighted solutions developed within the Waste4Soil project, showcasing innovative approaches to organic waste valorisation and soil-friendly resource recovery.

The group was guided through the facilities by Dr. Lea Lavrič and Danilo Lenart, who presented the company’s activities in detail and engaged with students by answering their questions. Their explanations provided valuable insights into how organic waste can be transformed into renewable energy and other useful resources.

Such educational visits represent an important bridge between academic learning and real-world practice. They help to deepen understanding of sustainable processes while encouraging young people to reflect on the importance of the circular economy and responsible resource management.

Through initiatives like this, Waste4Soil continues to support knowledge sharing, awareness raising, and the promotion of innovative solutions for a more sustainable future.
