World Water Day 2026 – Women at the Centre of Solutions to the Water Crisis

On World Water Day 2026, we celebrate women as drivers of solutions to the global water crisis.

Water affects everyone, but not equally. In many rural communities, women and girls play a central role in agriculture and water management—from irrigation and livestock to aquaculture and domestic use. Yet they often have less control over water and land and are excluded from decision-making processes, such as water user associations or local committees.

At Waste4Soil, we believe that women must shape the future of water. Promoting gender equality in agricultural water management is not only a matter of rights—it is an opportunity to strengthen development, food security, and water sustainability for all.

When women have secure access to water and land and can participate meaningfully in governance, households and communities become more resilient. Access to irrigation, finance, services, and knowledge enables women farmers to increase productivity, strengthen livelihoods, and contribute to food security. Inclusive water governance also ensures equitable and sustainable water management outcomes.

On this World Water Day, Waste4Soil reaffirms its commitment to supporting initiatives that empower women in water and soil management, fostering resilient agricultural systems and sustainable communities.
