From 8–10 April 2025, the Waste4Soil project proudly took part in the Soil Health Now Conference, in Wageningen, Netherlands. As a flagship event in the field of soil sustainability, the conference brought together leading researchers, policymakers, and innovators, all committed to improving soil health across Europe and beyond.
Our coordinating partner, CERTH (Centre for Research and Technology Hellas), has participated actively in the conference. Vera Proskynitopoulou delivered a engaging oral presentation titled: “Advancing Circular Agriculture: The Waste4Soil Project for Sustainable Fertilizer Development from Food Processing Residues.”
Her presentation showcased the project’s innovative approach to transforming food processing waste into high-value, sustainable fertilizers, contributing to the circular economy while enhancing soil resilience.
In addition, the CERTH team presented a scientific poster titled: “Integrated Membrane-Based Treatment of Digestate for Soil Amender Production: A Life Cycle Assessment Approach.” This work demonstrated the environmental and technological benefits of advanced treatment processes in producing effective soil amendments from organic residues.
Participation in the conference aligns seamlessly with Waste4Soil’s mission to promote circular, science-driven for soil health for soil health and sustainable agriculture. The event provided an excellent platform for knowledge exchange, highlighting cutting-edge developments in soil monitoring, scientific research, technology, and business intelligence aimed at measuring, managing, and improving soil health.
Through these contributions, Waste4Soil continues to support the EU’s broader goals for environmental sustainability and the transition to circular agri-food systems.
